For Post & Pole Mounted Bird Feeders: Place the bird feeder at least 8-10 feet away from any structure that a squirrel could climb and jump from. Position the baffle so its top is 4-5 feet off the ground, preferably under the feeder itself. For hanging feeders on a shepherd's crook pole, place the baffle 4-5 feet up, yet not so high that squirrels can jump over it.

For Hanging Bird Feeders: Select a branch that is high enough to keep the feeder's bottom at least 6 feet from the ground, and long enough to place the feeder 8-10 feet from the tree trunk. Suspend the baffle from a branch hook or chain at least 18-24 inches long, and hang the feeder underneath.
